Land, Art, Embodiment

From 60 British pounds
The Northstar Centre, Wickenden Farm

Service Description

This workshop is a route into nature immersion and connecting with the creative spark with through guided mindfulness and movement practices. We will engage with deepest states of consciousness that can open us up to the benevolent natural energy of the land. From this state of connection and openness, we will make artwork based on our experience of the land and the elements as we perceive them from within. During this process, there will be time for Sharing, for time, alone, in nature, for sketching, for moving the body and for painting. The art made during this day will be expressive and not skills based so no previous experience is needed just the willingness to create. This is the same for the movement practice which is also expressive and only requires a wish to move your body and to explore being physically present in a Beautiful natural setting. The day will provide a safe and nurturing space for you to dive deeper into your physical body, your creative world, and Into your spiritual and physical connection with this land. Making or looking at Art shifts our mind into a creative mode, allowing something special to be activated. I believe in bringing out this creative side in people. You don't have to be a trained artist to experience it and I have some wonderful tools which can help to make it happen. I offer engaging and inspiring ART workshops and artist mentoring sessions. This workshop runs from 10am - 4pm. About Riga Forbes I am a qualified and experienced Art Teacher with a BA in Fine Art Painting from Chelsea College of Art and PGCE in Art & Design from Brighton University. I am also an artist and I paint landscapes which express my somatic and emotional experience of being in the natural world and responding to it's power, fragility and temporality. My work is about being in relationship with nature. I experience it all through my eyes, but also through my emotional feelings, my senses and body. This is part of my preparatory work, to connect as directly as possible with my subject from the core of my being through whole body perception. Here I experience a sense of 'sameness' or 'oneness' with the nature I am immersed in. This lived experience of place is central to expressing the quality of connection I feel with the land. It is this raw essence of connection that I want to bring into my paintings.
